Kristen Becker

Who: Becker’s wide-ranging comedy is rowdy, political, personal, intelligent and unrelentingly honest. A comedian who happens to also be an out lesbian, Becker consistently wins the hearts of audiences – straight and gay alike – with her unapologetic humor and understated southern charm. A childhood divided between the Rust Belt and the Deep South left her uniquely able to connect with a wide range of audiences.

Curve Magazine called her “hilarious” and “rebellious” when they named her one of America’s Top Ten Funniest Lesbians (she tied for 8th with the fabulous Lily Tomlin). She was a semi-finalist on NBC’s hit show Last Comic Standing. Toronto’s Xtra! recently lauded her “brash and personal humor.”

Fortune Feimster

Who: Fortune headlines the best comedy clubs across the country and was named to Variety’s list of Top 10 Comics To Watch.

She started as a performer and writer on Chelsea Lately, and has since appeared on TV in Idiotsitter, Mulaney, Glee, Two Broke Girls, Workaholics, Drunk History, @MidnightLast Comic Standing, and Conan. She also appeared in 2016’s movie Office Christmas Party. 

Recently, Fortune completed a role for the independent film F***Ing People and her own half hour special for Netflix. And Amblin Pictures acquired Bad Cop, Bad Cop a feature which she co-wrote and is attached to star. Currently, she’s a series regular as ‘Nurse Collette’ on The Mindy Project and has a recurring role on Life In Pieces.

Karen Williams, the first openly lesbian black comic to include lesbian material in her act, has appeared in solo and ensemble comedy shows, both live and filmed. and has humor pieces published in multiple humor anthologies. Left On Pearl, A Film By Susan Rivo

In 1971 classified ads for employment were still segregated by gender, battered women’s shelters did not exist, abortion was illegal, and a married women couldn’t open a bank account without her husband’s permission.

Left On Pearl is a documentary that provides a riveting and often humorous look at the 1971 takeover and occupation of a Harvard University-owned building by hundreds of Boston area women. The ten-day occupation of 888 Memorial Drive by women demanding a Women’s Center and low income housing for the community in which the building stood, embodied within it many of the hopes, triumphs, conflicts and tensions of Second Wave feminism.

Activist University

Babefest will also feature an Activist University meetup at Fisherman Hall at 3pm, giving the Babefest activists the chance to connect and learn from each other how to create impact in their communities, country and the world.

Annual Golf Tournament

What: The Columbus Day Golf Outing is like no other. Start your day with other Women’s Week participants and coffee then on to a shotgun start for 18 holes of golf. After the 18th hole you’ll head into the clubhouse for lunch, festivities, a cash bar and plenty of prizes! The entire event is a benefit for Helping Our Women, a local nonprofit dedicated to assisting women with chronic or life-threatening conditions. Join us for fun – and to help a good cause!
