This year’s roster includes festival favorites, the Cirio Collective. Headed by Lia and Jeffrey Cirio, the group will present their newest ballet by Boston Ballet principal Paul Craig. They will also perform an excerpt from Lia Cirio’s choreographic premiere, created for Boston Ballet’s 2018 ChoreograpHER initiative.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater ’s young star, Chalvar Monteiro, will perform his own breathtaking choreography.
Lindsey Jones, one of Dance Magazine’s “On the Rise” featured artists, will perform Bill Young’s quirky duet “Team II” with the superb, Burr Johnson partnering her.
Perhaps one of the most exciting features of this year’s program features Burr Johnson, Lindsey Jones, and Chalvar Monteiro performing “Cunningham Centennial Solos: Provincetown”. These distinguished three dancers participated in the Cunningham Trust’s “Night of 100 Solos: A Centennial Event” last month. They will rework their solos to create an original version specially for the Cape Dance Festival stage.
The Limón Dance Company’s Kristen Foote will present “Chaconne” with live violin accompaniment by Xiao Quan.
Provincetown’s Eryc Taylor will present his poignant “Grand Duo” with music by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Otis Redding.
Rounding out the program, local hip hop icons Billy and Bobby McClain, The Wondertwins, present “That’s Entertainment”.
