What: The Swim for Life (Official website) is an annual swim to raise money for several Ptown social services. Now in its 33rd year, the swim has grown to be one of the largest community gatherings on Cape Cod, bringing people together from around the country and around the corner.
UPDATE 8/14: After thirty-one years swimming across Provincetown Harbor from Long Point to the Boatslip, the annual Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla is changing course. The appearance of white sharks and seals has created concern for swimmer safety in the deep waters off Long Point. For this reason, the course of this important Provincetown tradition and fundraiser will move closer to the town’s shoreline. The organization will also have a fresh water alternative at Great Pond in Wellfleet!
When: Sat, 9/7/19. Complete schedule below.
About the Swim for Life
The Provincetown Swim for Life was started in 1988 to raise awareness and funds to help those with AIDS in Provincetown. The first year 18 swimmers raised $6,000. Last year, 412 swimmers and over 75 kayakers participated to raise $225,000 for local charities, such as AIDS Support Group Cape Cod (ASGCC), Helping Our Women (HOW), Soup Kitchen of Provincetown (SKIP) and many more.
