Winter Play Dates – Provincetown Theater

What: To start off the new year, the Provincetown Theater will host Winter Play Dates, a FREE reading series of new American full-length plays every other Tuesday beginning January 15.

The series includes six new full-length plays directed and performed by local artists and are curated by playwright, author, and former executive director of the Dramatist Guild, Gary Garrison, along with Provincetown Theater artistic director David Drake. Participating playwrights range from local to regional to national. Following each reading, the playwright will engage in a talkback with the audience, facilitated by either Garrison or Drake. The plays

All performances begin at 7 pm. No reservations necessary; first come, first serve general seating. A cash bar in the lobby, including snacks and hot drinks, will be open for every performance.

Visions of Beatitude: In a mythical past, Eugene O’Neill and Tennessee Williams meet in this historical two-man play set in Provincetown. By North Truro playwright Joe Paprzycki. 7 pm

The Shadow Child: A young boy enters the lives of an emotionally haunted family in 1960s Brooklyn, shedding light on the things that matter most. By Provincetown playwright Myra Slotnick. 7 pm

The Lady Hamlet: A 1920’s backstage comedy in which two great female stage divas compete for the role of Hamlet on Broadway, as they compete for the hand of Ophelia. By New York playwright Sarah Schulman. 7 pm
