What is Provincetown Carnival Week?

Provincetown Carnival 2020 is a weeklong celebration of LGBTQ life–parties, art fairs, a costume ball, and more–and culminates in the Carnival Parade on Thursday, 8/20/20. While the year-round population of Provincetown tops out at 3,000 people, the Carnival Parade attracts nearly 90,000 visitors annually.

Saturday

Enchanted Yappy Hour Welcome to Town with Tito’s at Crown & Anchor

What: Provincetown loves dogs, so the PBG and Tito’s Handmade Vodka are kicking off Carnival Week with a party for people and their pups. Pup costumes welcome!

Sunday

Carnival Pride Flag Raising Ceremony

What: Join this annual event at the Pilgrim Monument that kicks off Carnival Week.

Immigration Equality: Liberation P-Town

What: Join the annual cocktail party in Ptown to raise funds for LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants. All proceeds benefit Immigration Equality, a nonprofit providing free legal services for queer immigrants fleeing persecution and seeking safety in the U.S. Open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and hot tub will be provided! Have fun and support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer asylum seekers.

General admission tickets start at $40 and include access to select KENT STETSON collection, hors d’oeuvres, hot tub, lawn games, an Immigration Equality tote, and an open bar! Questions? E-mail [email protected]

Enchanted Sunset Cruise

What: The Provincetown II becomes a floating Tea Dance as it cruises around the Cape Cod seashore. With an open deck, and two lower decks, the Provincetown II accommodates 1,000 people, so there’s plenty of room to socialize, party, and dance to a guest DJ. Sponsored by Bay State Cruises, Cape Cod 5 & Seamens Bank. Always an enchanting experience.

When: Sun, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Boarding begins at 4 pm.

Costume Party: Enchanted Forest Costume Ball

What: Get in a costume or join in the voting at the annual Carnival Costume contest and opening party. Thirsty Burlington MC’s the contest poolside at the Wave, where contestants will each time to strut their stuff for participants to vote. There are cash prizes and winners will be featured in Carnival Parade!

  • First Prize: $500
  • Second Prize: $200

The costume party starts at poolside at the Wave Bar with the costume contest from 8:30 – 10 pm, then the party continues next door with dancing at the Paramount until 1 am.

Provincetown Carnival Pool Party: Brass Key

What: Provincetown Carnival’s hottest pool party is back and bigger than ever. This year’s Carnival theme is “Enchanted Forest”. Put on your best bathing suit, grab your towel and join over 1500 of the hottest gay men from all over the world for one of the biggest events of Carnival Week. Don’t wait to buy your tickets.

What: Come experience the 2nd annual Carnival Gessellschaft – a style, glam, and drag dance party. Presented by Janet Jorgulesco and House of La Rue.

Tuesday

Enchanted Pool Party – GLAAD Benefit

What: The Crown & Anchor, GLAAD, and Absolut Elyx host an afternoon of music and dancing overlooking Provincetown Harbor. DJ Blacklow will spin, and the Crown & Anchor is expanding the waterfront dance floor for this special event with multiple bars available. VIP Ticket purchasers will enjoy exclusive use of the Absolut Elyx VIP Lounge with complimentary Absolut Elyx beverages.

A portion of the door proceeds will benefit GLAAD. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of individuals and events in all media as a means of eliminating homphobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Carnival Cocktail Party at the Watership Inn

What: Join this annual cocktail party – and Miss Richfield 1981 – before heading over to Tea Dance. (Watership Inn is just down the street from Tea Dance!) Cocktails, beer, wine, light food will be available.

One Enchanted Evening – Town Hall Show

What: Come for an evening with of entertainment by many of Provincetown’s favorite, eclectic bunch performers – under one roof!

Magical and Mystical Party at A-House

What: Resident DJ and Billboard Magazine reporter David LaSalle spins the music at Ptown’s iconic dance club.

Wednesday

Drag Bingo

What: Join Scarbie for the annual Drag Bingo event on the lawn of the UU Meeting House. Seating is limited to 300, and the event always sells out, so be sure to arrive early! Have fun and support the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House, which sustains Ptown in so many ways.

When: Wed, 6:30pm; Seating begins @ 5 pm.

Trixie Mattel

Who: Trixie Mattel, crowned winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3, returns to Provincetown this summer for one night only during Carnival Week!  Known for her life-in-plastic aesthetic, Trixie has been charming audiences for years with her unmatched performance style, razor-sharp reads, and off-color comedy as a dazzling host and emcee personality.

Mattel is the stage name of Brian Michael Firkus, an American singer, actor, drag queen and recognized “Skinny Legend.” Trixie is the winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 3 (originally competing on season 7). He is also a Billboard Heatseekers #1 charting recording artist (One Stone, 2018), a wildly successful theater touring act, and one half of a comic duo on Viceland (“The Trixie and Katya Show”) and on YouTube (“UNHhhh”). In 2019, Trixie will be working the festival circuit as the subject of a bio documentary, “Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts.”

Carnival Parade

What: The parade is the pinnacle event of Carnival Week, drawing the largest crowd of the summer!

Where: Starts at the Harbor Hotel and continues down Commercial St, through the town center, to the corner of Franklin St in the West End. | See Parade Route

Annual Leather / Underwear Dance Party

What: The party continues at this annual dance party, which never disappoints.

Drag Brunch – Benefit for Helping Our Women

What: Hosted by Miss Richfield 1981, the 13th Anniversary Drag Brunch, benefiting Ptown’s Helping Our Women (HOW), is the best meal – and show in town. Make sure to dress your best drag because only those dressed for the event will be admitted!

Enchanted Creatures Fantasy Ball: Official Closing Party

What: Closing dance party in both Wave and Paramount. The party starts at 9 pm at Wave with VJ Tom Yaz, and at 10 the party moves into Paramount for dancing with DJ J Warren until close.
